    I've been looKing at some colored stoves that have chipped porcelain.

    How hard is it match colors? For instance, if the backsplash was dinged up, what would be my chances of having the whole backsplash reporcelained and having a good color match to the rest of the stove?

    I don't think that I would want to have to get the whole stove redone. If that was the case, I'd just buy a white stove for less money, and get whatever color I wanted.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Chipper. The local place that I have had pieces re-porcelained said that if I brought a part of the stove (door panel) in, they could mix up an exact match. However, we were talking about enough to cover a few nicks, not a whole panel. My stove is white, but there are a lot of different whites out there too!
    I have heard that the red is a tough color to do because of safety changes in the industry over the years. The same is true for black according to the shop I use. Something about chemicals that use to be used and are no longer allowed.
    So maybe the best bet is to talk to the person who would be doing the job, tell them what color you are talking about, and go from there.
    Hope this helps...

    Hi Chipper;
    I had a big ding in the front of the stove cover of my yellow BZ. I took a piece that was off for cleaning to my neighborhood bodyshop. They matched it very well. There is a slight difference if you look closely and in good light, but really no one but me knows it's there. In another discussion, Todd mentioned that he's had good luck getting matching paint at appliance shops.

    ps Go for the yellow. It's wonderfully cheerful in the kitchen. When I first installed all my white appliances I thought "oh, I should have gotten a white stove." But, I don't think that any more. I really like that it is a focal point and it's easy to find things that compliment the color.

    pss I'm not sure if my previous comment was clear. But, I just used auto body paint to touch up the ding. Not paint the entire piece.

    Holy COW!!!!!

    I bid on a yellow 60C, and I got it!!

    I really wanted a highback, but decided that a lowback would require far less kitchen rearrangement (and therefore allow sooner useage). I have windows that sit about 7-8 inches above counter level and along the entire stove wall of my L-shaped kitchen. I wasn't sure how I could fit in a taller stove, much as I love their looks. I'm learning to love low...

    So this stove:

    It's oven door is pretty dinged up on the top edge, it's missing a timer knob, and one of the broiler handles is broken (included), but it looks OK otherwise, no other chips that I know of. It supposedly is all in working order (minus the req. safety system I'll need to install), and it even has a single pot. Hope I did OK.

    Wahoooooo. So excited...

    I have to drive to Long Island to pick it up. (and I'm not great with a trailer...yet)

    Oh - I already named her "Miss Daisy." (after Jessica Tandy's character, although hers was a white 90C)
